💭 My Thoughts — I Was HOOKED… Until I Wasn’t

I’m not even going to pretend I eased into this book. Nope. Everyone Is Lying to You by Jo Piazza grabbed me immediately and refused to let go… at least for a while.

The premise? Absolutely irresistible.
Influencers. Tradwives. Perfect lives that are actually… not.

And honestly? I felt validated. 🙃

I’ve always believed that behind those curated, soft-filter, sourdough-baking, linen-dress-wearing feeds… there’s chaos. There’s tension. There are cracks. This book basically said: “Yeah, you’re right.”

And WOW does it dig into that.

The behind-the-scenes reality of influencer culture?
The pressure to maintain a flawless image?
The emotional (and sometimes physical) cost of that lifestyle?

👀 Deeply engaging. Slightly horrifying. Weirdly fascinating.

But…

Around the last quarter, I felt myself losing steam a bit. The mystery? It starts to feel… a little predictable. Not bad—just not mind-blowing. The “bad” characters stay bad. The twists? There are a couple! But they’re more like:

“Oh… okay, I see that.”

Not:

“WHAT DID I JUST READ?!”

Still, I flew through this and absolutely enjoyed the ride.

This 2025 thriller dives into the glossy, highly curated world of social media fame—and absolutely tears it apart.

We follow Lizzie Matthews, a journalist who reconnects with her estranged college friend Rebecca “Bex” Sommers, now a wildly successful tradwife influencer.

But when Bex disappears… and her husband turns up brutally murdered?

Yeah. That perfect life starts unraveling FAST.

Her plan:

  • Secure financial independence

  • Confront Grayson and expose him

She sets up cameras to capture a confrontation between Grayson and his friend Marsden.

Camera gets destroyed. Chaos ensues.

🎯 Final Thoughts — Worth the Hype?

But:

➖ Not the most shocking twists
➖ Slight predictability toward the end

Still? I had a great time with this.

And I will absolutely side-eye every “perfect” Instagram mom a little harder now. 😌
