Maybe Not by Colleen Hoover

💥 Maybe Not by Colleen Hoover — A Hilarious, Steamy Novella You Didn't Know You Needed

Can we just take a moment to thank Colleen Hoover for blessing us with Maybe Not? 🙌 This novella is short, spicy, and completely addictive. It’s technically a spin-off of Maybe Someday, and it focuses on everyone’s favorite disaster couple: Warren and Bridgette.

If you loved the witty banter and “will-they-won’t-they” tension in the original Maybe Someday, this book is a chaotic, flirty gift. Let’s dive in. 👇

📚 What Is Maybe Not About?

While Maybe Someday focused on Ridge and Sydney’s swoony slow burn, Maybe Not is a frenemies-to-lovers novella centered around Ridge’s best friend Warren and their super spicy roommate Bridgette.

They live in the same apartment with Ridge and Sydney. Warren is messy, loud, sarcastic, and basically a human golden retriever. Bridgette? She’s ice cold, snarky, and basically allergic to feelings. The tension between them is chef's kiss.

Warren is convinced that Bridgette secretly likes him — and he might not be wrong.

🎬 Let’s Talk Plot (Yes, There Is One)

The story opens with Warren discovering that Bridgette has zero boundaries and also zero patience for him. She’s rude, private, and utterly uninterested in his goofball charm. Naturally, Warren decides to push all her buttons. It starts out with teasing, turns into arguments, and spirals into full-blown sexual tension so thick you could cut it with a butter knife.

Warren soon realizes that behind Bridgette’s icy exterior is a girl who’s been hurt — badly. She's emotionally walled off for a reason, and it has everything to do with trust issues and trauma. Once he sees this side of her, he drops the act and tries to reach her in a more genuine way.

Meanwhile, Bridgette pretends she wants nothing to do with Warren... but we know the truth. 😏

They hook up, but there’s a lot of back and forth. Bridgette accuses Warren of just wanting a fling. Warren wants more. He challenges her, not just physically but emotionally. And honestly? It’s kind of beautiful.

💕 Why It Works

Even though this is a novella (just around 130 pages), CoHo manages to pack a full emotional arc in a short space:

  • Warren’s love language is lowkey worship with a side of sarcasm

  • Bridgette’s character development is surprisingly deep for such a short book

  • There’s great insight into how people protect themselves after trauma

  • And yes, the steam level is HIGH 🔥 (It’s definitely spicier than Maybe Someday)

Also, can we talk about Warren’s obsession with porn? It’s weirdly charming, and it somehow works in this context. Leave it to Colleen Hoover to make that funny and kind of sweet.

📝 Final Thoughts

If you loved Maybe Someday, this novella is a must-read. It's funny, messy, emotional, and downright hot. Plus, it gives us a much deeper look into the dynamic between Warren and Bridgette, who honestly stole every scene they were in during the first book.
