I LOVED this book!! Easy listening, easy to follow, just the right twists. She's Not Sorry is a story about an ICU nurse and single mom living in Chicago, Meghan. The story starts with the arrival of a patient, Caitlin, in her ICU, for jumping from a bridge. We find out that Caitlin wasn't a great person. At the same time, there's a menacing serial killer in the streets of Chicago, making everyone on edge. Meghan befriends Caitlin's parents, who's there for all the visiting hours for their daughter. They request Meghan to be Caitlin's nurse. Meghan runs into a high school friend, Nat. Nat has visible bruises, and opens up about being in an abusive relationship. Over time, Meghan shares her deepest secret with Nat - that her ex Ben isn't her daughter's father. Meghan also opens her home to Nat so she has a safe place to stay. Turns out, Nat was only using Meghan for money. She stole Meghan's wedding ring AND engagement ring and also used her knowledge of Meghan to scam her for money. Also, the book didn't tell us that this had happened BEFORE Caitlin's fall from the bridge, and Caitlin IS Nat. The real Nat from high school died 19 years ago from a car crash. We learn that when Meghan finally put everything together, she got in a huge argument with Nat/Caitlin and pushed her off the bridge. (Nat was actually wearing Meghan's wedding ring at the time and Meghan demanded her to give it back, which Nat threw it back at her, so she was able to get that back.) Caitlin starts getting better at the ICU, much to Meghan's chagrin. Meghan realizes she needs to kill Caitlin so she doesn't have to go to prison. She injects Caitlin with another patient's drugs and kills her, and gets away with it. Her coworker, Luke, invites her out for drinks and asks her about her daughter Sienna. She tells him Sienna is home alone. Luke quickly excuses himself and leaves. Turns out, Luke is the serial killer and has been looking for an opportunity to kill Sienna. With Luke's wife's help, Meghan and the cops locate Sienna. Cop shoots Luke dead, and Sienna and Meghan become closer as mom and daughter. At the end of the novel, Meghan's ex Ben hands the engagement ring back to her, pretending to not know how it got to be at his house. We find out that Ben's girlfriend was Caitlin, and Caitlin and Ben must have worked together to steal from Meghan.

  I loved this book. It kept me at the edge of my seat and I didn't see the final twist coming. The story follows two couples. First is Jake and Nina. Jake is a successful neurosurgeon, and their relationship seems perfect from the outside world. But it's really been going downhill and they've been arguing more, mostly stemming from Jake complaining about Nina spending so much time with her mother due to her mother's ailing eyesight. Second couple is Christian and Lily. They are not as wealthy, and struggling to conceive. Christian seems to be the perfect husband but Lily is cheating on him with Jake.   Incidents Around the House is a horror story about a girl named Bela and her family. The author Josh Malerman has done a phenomenal job of setting up that creepy eerie feeling throughout the book.  Incidents Around the House tells the story of an 8 year old girl named Bela who is haunted by an entity she refers to as "Other Mommy". She lives in a house with her father Russ and mother Ursula. Other Mommy would appear in her room quite often and ask to enter her heart. Bela always tells her no, but Other Mommy is increasingly more demanding. Other Mommy becomes more and more omnipresent as Russ and Ursula's marriage deteriorates. They argue often and get drunk often. Ursula also cheats on Russ and often comes home late (or sometimes doesn't come home at all). Bela tells her parents about Other Mommy, and eventually gets their attention.   Oof. Another one that started out pretty strong and got more and more boring as the book went on. The Last Thing He Told Me is told through the narration of Hannah Hall, a 40 year old woodturner who is looking to solve the mystery of her husband Owen's disappearance. Initially, it is believed that her husband is on the run from some illegal activities involving his company, but as thriller readers, we know that we will likely find out this isn't the case. I was quite intrigued at the beginning, but the book turned out to be more of a mystery than a thriller - I never felt like I was on the edge of my seat, I was merely curious of where the story was going to go.
