π Overview: Indie Horror That Actually Delivers
I’ve been seeing Spencer Guerrero EVERYWHERE lately—especially in Facebook thriller groups—so I finally gave in. I’ll be honest: I went in with low expectations (indie author bias is real π).
And yes… the writing?
A bit repetitive
Some grammar/spelling issues
Occasionally feels juvenile
BUT.
The story?? The twists?? The sheer insanity??
I was NOT prepared.
π± Plot Summary (FULL SPOILERS)
π The Setup: A Nightmare Begins
Anabelle is abducted after helping an elderly man—classic mistake in thriller land π—and wakes up chained in a filthy room by a man calling himself Bedlam.
He enforces three rules:
π Eat
π Sleep
π Listen
Oh—and there are screams coming from another room. Casual.
π§ Meet Bedlam… or Timmy… or Both?
Bedlam is… not stable.
He switches between:
A violent captor (Bedlam)
A childlike persona (Timmy)
We learn:
“Bedlam” was actually HIS abuser
He’s now “continuing the cycle”
π©π©π©
π§♀️ Meanwhile: The Search Begins
Anabelle’s mom Helena, dad Pedro, and friend Nathan begin searching.
Detective Jack Gray connects the case to a previous missing woman:
π Laura Perdita
Clue count: minimal
Stress level: maximum
π Captivity Gets Worse (Yes, Worse)
Anabelle:
Tries to escape (fails π¬)
Gets tortured (toilet dunking?? WHY)
Is forced to watch disturbing videos
Eventually she meets another captive…
π Laura Perdita… who has been there for THREE YEARS
𧩠The “Cycle” Explained
Bedlam abducts women who resemble his dead wife Jolie.
Why?
Because:
His daughter Calliope died
He blames Jolie
He recreated his trauma into a “cycle” of abuse
Totally normal behavior. π
πͺ The Forbidden Room (aka Trauma Central)
Inside:
A child skeleton (Calliope π)
Jolie’s severed head
Weapons for punishment
At this point I was like… sir??? seek help???
π₯ The Escape Attempt + MAJOR TWIST
Anabelle and Laura:
Break chains
Attack Bedlam
Run downstairs
BUT—
π¨ TWIST π¨
Laura reveals she is actually:
π Fia Crabb
Bedlam’s partner/lover
AND…
They already killed the real Laura.
I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING.
𧬠The Most Unhinged Twist of All
Anabelle discovers:
π Bedlam (Timothy Logan) is her biological father
YES. WHAT?!
She is essentially:
π A “replacement” for his dead daughter Calliope
This book said “trauma” and then hit the gas.
π« Final Confrontation
Helena, Pedro, and others track Bedlam down.
Chaos erupts:
Bedlam shoots Detective Gray
Kills Jolie
Shoots Pedro (he survives)
Anabelle escapes, grabs a hatchet, and—
π Kills Bedlam by splitting his skull
Honestly? Deserved.
π§Ύ Epilogue (aka Wait… What?)
We learn:
Timothy killed his original abuser and took the name Bedlam
Helena actually kidnapped Anabelle from neglectful adoptive parents π
AND THEN—
π Lonnie (the weird neighbor) is revealed to be connected to the same abusive institute
So… yeah.
The nightmare world is bigger than we thought.
π€― My Thoughts
Let’s be real:
✏️ The Writing:
Not perfect
Needs editing
Feels amateur at times
π₯ The Story:
INSANE (in a good way)
Twists on twists on twists
Actually unpredictable
Genuinely disturbing
I kept thinking:
π “How did he even come up with this??”
Because WOW.
⭐ Final Rating: 4 Stars
Despite the writing flaws, this book is:
✔️ Addictive
✔️ Shocking
✔️ Memorable
It’s messy… but it WORKS.

π¬ Final Thoughts
This was one of those books where I went in skeptical and came out like:
π “Okay… I get the hype now.”
Would I recommend it to everyone?
Absolutely not.
Would I recommend it to dark thriller lovers who want to be shocked?
Ohhhh yes. π
