๐Ÿ“š Quick Overview

Cash by Jessica Peterson is a contemporary Western romance that leans hard into the tropes: enemies-to-lovers, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity… and yes, a whole lot of spice ๐ŸŒถ️๐Ÿค

And listen—this book absolutely knows what it is.

๐Ÿค  My Thoughts (aka: yeehaw but make it messy)

WOW. This was… very smutty. Like, surprisingly smutty. Not complaining—just… adjusting my expectations mid-read ๐Ÿ˜‚

Cowboys are not usually my thing (I’m more psychological thriller chaos than ranch life), but I have to give credit where it’s due: Jessica Peterson knows exactly how to keep readers hooked. I was enticed. I was invested. I was also occasionally like, “ma’am… this escalated quickly.”

This is peak guilty pleasure reading:

  • You know exactly where it’s going ๐Ÿšฉ

  • You still keep turning the pages ๐Ÿ“–

  • You question nothing until afterward ๐Ÿ˜‚

Because let’s be real…

๐Ÿ‘‰ The enemies-to-lovers progression? Lightning speed
๐Ÿ‘‰ Falling in love? Basically immediate
๐Ÿ‘‰ Marriage?? Did they even have TWO dates??

Absolutely not behavior to model in real life ๐Ÿ’€

And yet… I still enjoyed it. That’s the magic (and the problem).

๐Ÿ“– Full Plot Summary (Spoilers Included)

Mollie Luck, a Dallas entrepreneur running a cowboy boot brand, inherits her estranged father’s massive Texas ranch after his sudden death. The catch? She must live there and manage it for a full year to access her inheritance.

Enter: Cash Rivers ๐Ÿ˜ค
Grumpy ranch foreman. Believes the ranch was supposed to be his. Instantly hates Mollie.

So obviously… sparks fly.

At first, Cash makes her life miserable, assuming she’ll sell the ranch and destroy everything. But Mollie sticks it out, determined to prove herself—partly for the money, partly to save her struggling business.

As they work together:

  • Mollie starts adapting to ranch life

  • Cash starts respecting her hustle

  • They both start catching feelings (of course)

There’s jealousy (hello, random Dallas situationship guy), a bar fight ๐Ÿ’ฅ, and eventually…

๐Ÿ‘‰ They give in and start a very physical relationship
๐Ÿ‘‰ Mollie basically moves into Cash’s cabin at night ๐Ÿ‘€
๐Ÿ‘‰ Emotional walls crumble fast

Then things accelerate even more:

  • Pregnancy scare (negative, but emotionally intense)

  • Cash confesses he’s in love

  • Mollie admits she loves him too… BUT

๐Ÿ’ฅ Plot twist: the will requirement gets overturned
She’s free to leave

And she does—because she still wants her Dallas life and business.

Cue heartbreak ๐Ÿ˜ญ

But don’t worry—we’re not staying sad for long.

Cash follows her to Dallas, meets her mom, and proposes a solution:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Combine ranch life + her business
๐Ÿ‘‰ Build a design studio on the ranch

Mollie agrees… and then:

  • She proposes merging their ranches

  • Cash counters with: marry me

AND SHE SAYS YES ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’

So yes… from enemies → lovers → marriage in what feels like five minutes.

The book ends with a setup for the next installment involving Cash’s brother Wyatt ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿค” What Worked vs What Didn’t

✅ What I Enjoyed

  • Addictive, easy-to-devour writing ✨

  • Strong chemistry (very strong… like… wow) ๐ŸŒถ️

  • Fun trope execution

  • Small-town/ranch vibes were immersive

❌ What Didn’t Quite Work

  • Pacing = chaotic fast-forward mode

  • Emotional development felt rushed

  • Relationship timeline = questionable life choices ๐Ÿšฉ

๐Ÿค  Final Verdict

This is the definition of:
๐Ÿ‘‰ “I know this is ridiculous but I’m having fun anyway.”

It’s not meant to be deeply realistic or profound—it’s meant to be entertaining, tropey, and indulgent, and on that front, it absolutely delivers.

Just… maybe don’t take relationship advice from this one ๐Ÿ˜‚

Rating: 3.5/5

A fun, steamy, guilty pleasure with questionable pacing but undeniable entertainment value.

If you end up continuing the series, I’m VERY curious if the brothers’ stories slow things down at all… or if we’re staying in full-speed romance chaos mode ๐Ÿค ๐Ÿ’€
